Did you know that the average human sleeps about 6 years of their life by the time they are 90? Don’t look at this as wasted time! You can use this valuable time to go on a spiritual journey of lucid dreaming.
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming has become an obsession of mine! I’ve been soaking up every information I can about lucid dreaming. If you are a beginner to lucid dreaming, it is simply the experience of being aware that you’re dreaming while remaining in the dream.
While we are in our conscious state, we’re only aware of about 2% of what’s going on in the mind. When you dream, however, you are able to tap into deeper parts of the mind where we process memories from the day.
So, when you are able to become consciously aware within a lucid dream, you gain great power to control them.
Why Would I Care to Control My Dreams?
When you are in control of your dreams, you can heal different aspects like suppressed experiences and memories. Being able to relate to these parts of your identity can help transform your waking life.
Lucid dreams have been known to cure physical problems in the body, offer life-changing insights, as well as assist in deep healing like, soothing emotional wounds and even overcoming phobias.
To help improve your chances of having a lucid dream, here are 5 methods to try.
Meditate during the day.
Have you ever had a dream that stuck with you through the next day? Just as dreams can influence the day, what you do when awake will carry over into the night. Practicing mindfulness in waking life will pave the way for being mindful while sleeping.
Focus your mind before bed.
Avoid electronic screens for at least 30 minutes before going to bed, do some mindful breathing to help quiet mental chatter and enjoy any pre-sleep rituals that will relax your body and mind. We’ve included Nocturne Magnesium Spray from Luna Nectar in our March 2020 Lucid Dreaming Box (SOLD OUT) to help you do just that. As you start to fall asleep, tell yourself that you’ll become aware while dreaming.
Avoid eating before sleeping.
Going to bed on an empty stomach can help you fall asleep faster because your energy isn’t tied up in digesting. More time asleep means having more time to cycle through REM sleep. However, if going to bed on an empty stomach keeps you awake with hunger pains, this method could disrupt your sleep quality which is not helpful. Always listen to your body first.
Keep a dream journal.
Journaling helps with dream recall. Write down your dreams as soon as possible after waking up so you can remember the details of your dream life. This can help you remember where you are next sleep time.
Keep this Manifestation Journal by your bed to help you to record symbols, themes, and feelings of your dreams.
Practice
Now that you’ve got a few methods to help induce lucid dreams, remember that it can take practice and lots of patience!
